The Sotnos Shirt - Eli Monster
Another slow month of blogging, I had the best of intentions to blog more then i got caught up in Halloween costume sewing cause lets face it sewing is more fun then sitting at a computer. I will get you a little blog post of that as well.
Today we are looking at the Sotnos shirt by the Eli Monster. This is a raglen style shirt with different updates that makes it way different than any other raglen i have made. The neck doesn't have a neckband it has a facing so it eliminates some bulk there as well as it has an option to add buttons or snaps the front where the sleeve meets the body. Has sizes 18 months -12. I made my son who is a normal 7 his RTW size and it seems to fit perfect or a bit tight. This is also cause my son is in between a few sizes and i didn't do any grading. Make sure you go off of the sizing chart when you choose the size to make as each designer uses a different "block" or sizing so you may be one size in one designer and something totally different in another one.
I love this different take on a classic raglen and nice to see that someone wanted to make something different. I didn't do a great job on my button placket but that is my fault not the designer. If I make this pattern again i would ad a strip of woven interfacing ( i use Pellon 101) for that placket it gives the button holes or snaps a bit more stability and won't rip your fabric when your child is trying to undo them because we all know they undress so carefully at the end of the day.
I can see that this button or snap option would be amazing for (sorry if I get this very wrong ) ports for hospitalizations for easy access without having to take off the shirt completely.
This is a nice stream lined shirt personally I prefer a neckband on shirts but as a personal preference but love having this option for a "fancier" shirt. Taking photos of this newly turned 5 year old proves so much harder than his older brother he loves to show off a silly face.
